Some men are very honest and romantic by nature. As soon as this kind of guy realizes you’re “the one”, he sings it, he gives gifts, and he asks you out in front of the world.
But let’s be honest…not all men are like that! Even if a man is a natural romantic, wearing his heart on his sleeve like that can lead to major disappointment. No wonder then, some men have to take relationships slowly.
Your crush might spend some time getting to know you. He might observe you from a distance. He might become your close “platonic” friend.
When he finally realizes there is true compatibility and chemistry, his first instinct might be to remain CAUTIOUS and not jump into something he’s not ready for. The majority of men think in abstracts. They’re ready to woo you in the moment…but THIS GUY actually remembers things you’ve said in the past. He will come to know you as a friend, not just an attractive date.

Even if a man is still keeping a safe distance away from being your boyfriend, he will always be protective of you. He will defend you in a conversation, or if your name comes up in gossip, or even if he perceives someone else is oppressing you. Simply put, a man secretly in love is your knight in shining armor. He is just dying for the opportunity to be your hero.
- He wants to spend more time with you – not less.
When a man is in love, he is drawn to the source of his attraction. No matter how hard he tries to play it cool, ultimately he wants to be near you and wants to interact with you. Don’t be surprised to see him walking nearer to you, arranging to go places you’re going, and volunteering to do things that will give you more time together.
- He is just as interested in your mind as in your good looks.
A man in love values your mind. He wants to know your opinion, hear your stories, and listen to you talk about your subjects of expertise. He will always show respect for your beliefs, even if he disagrees on one point. Most men want a woman in spite of her personality. He lusts for her and tolerates her conversation. (Usually always mindless flirting) A man who loves you truly wants to learn about who you are and where you came from.
- He believes in you. And before that, he knows your dreams.
Not only does a man in love believe in you he also KNOWS what you want out of life. He’s taken the time to learn your ambitions, dreams, and goals in life. Now that he knows what motivates you, he is always on your side. He supports your decisions and has NO desire to control you, talk you out of something, or compete against you. He is your number one ally and friend.
- He tries to impress you.
We all know men interested in you “chase”, right? Well even before he decides to chase, he will do one peculiar thing. He will always be vying for your attention and trying his best to IMPRESS you. He will show off, talk about things that he loves (so he can impress you with his wealth of knowledge) and generally become bubbly and enthused about life whenever he’s around you. YOU are the source of his happiness. He’s not chill…he’s excitable, because he’s falling for you.
- He becomes part of your life.
At first, he listens, asks questions, and wants to know everything about you. But it’s not enough to know…he wants to become part of your life, slowly but surely. He wants more details. He’s interested in your past, present and future. He also tries to “fit in” with your life, whether it’s meeting your family and friends or telling you all about his life. He follows and interacts with you on social media and finds reasons to text you on a regular basis. He’s essentially “moving into your life” one tiny inch at a time.
- He not only does you favors…he keeps his promises.
Promises are easy to make. Personal favors are somewhat rare. But here’s what’s truly valuable: a man who keeps his promises to you. He never disappoints you in anything because he’s your knight – he offers to do you a favor and then lives up to expectations. He doesn’t ghost you, doesn’t break your confidence, and ALWAYS shows respect. He doesn’t chase after other girls either, because in his mind, he’s found the woman he truly loves and cares about. That is his priority now!
As you can see, it’s not always what a man SAYS that’s important but how he behaves, what his ACTIONS say about his feelings for you. It’s easy for a dishonest man to fake love by using flattery and lies to seduce you. But when a man takes action and proves his love to you by making you part of his world, that’s the real thing. That’s the kind of love that can’t be faked. It’s love based on how he treats you, how he goes out of his way to be kind.
