Good morning texts always seem a little awkward, don’t they? Whether you spent the night with your new crush, or just had a great date with good conversation, you both feel like you should say something. The date went well. You wanted to keep talking. You both said goodnight.
Now what?
How about a safe but very classy “Good morning?”
Sure, it’s a sweet thing to say. But what does good morning even mean? Have you ever wondered where the expression comes from?
Good morning and “tomorrow” have always been linked together in etymology. The word “morning”, from “morwening”, both refer to similar concepts. The next day, or the morning, which represents a new day.
Good morning is a salutation that takes place in the morning and so it’s easy to FEEL what it means. Respect, pleasantry, and good wishes. In fact, the “good” portion of Good Morning likely is a reference to God, as in to have a blessed morning. Or a good day’s produce, since local farming was so important in centuries past.
One of the earliest references to a “good morning” comes from the year 1450 in a work entitled “The Siege of Milan”. One of the quotes from the book is “He wolde noghte say Gud Mornynge.”
When you send a crush a good morning message, your intentions should be sweet and positive. You wish him a good day. You want to let him know you’re thinking about him. On the other hand the text isn’t about anything too deep, too “important”, or too stressful. That’s the point of a “good morning”, allowing him to feel comfortable texting you.
Now the question is what should you text him? What are some examples of sweet good morning messages that get the point across (that you like him!) but that aren’t too obvious or cutesy?

What do all of these messages have in common with each other? They aren’t about commitment, nor are they about defining what’s happening in the relationship. They’re all about taking joy in the moment. They’re about slowing things down and appreciating these moments, not rushing into something bigger and better. That’s a good mindset.
The truth is, good morning texts should be grateful in nature. They’re not manipulative, nor do they have to be complex or hilariously funny every time. Just keep things open and honest.
Be humorous. Be sweet. Be reflective but stay positive. Give him only positive vibes and become his source for inspiration. Be grateful for the new day. Be grateful for this day of life. Be glad that you made a new friend, regardless of what happens next. Carry this positive attitude with you throughout the day and as you create the text.
