Most flirty text lists are written by people guessing what men like.
I’m a man. I’ve also spent years listening to women describe exactly which text got a reply in four minutes and which one got left on read until Thursday. So the list below is sorted by what you’re trying to make happen, not by how clever the line is.
One rule before you start. A flirty text works when it gives him something to do. A compliment closes the loop. A question, a hint, or a challenge opens one. That’s the whole difference between a text he likes and a text he answers.
Flirty Texts for Him
The reliable middle ground. Warm, a little bold, safe at almost any stage.
- I’ve been productive today. Sort of. Between thoughts about you.
- Quick question. Are you always this distracting or is it just me?
- I had a whole plan for tonight and then you texted and now the plan is worse.
- You should know your name comes up when I talk about my week. Repeatedly.
- I keep catching myself smiling at my phone. It’s becoming a whole situation.
- Fair warning, I’m in a very good mood and you’re the reason.
- I was going to play it cool. I’ve decided against it.
- Do you have any idea what you did to me the last time I saw you, or do I need to spell it out?
- I’d rather be wherever you are right now. Just putting that out there.
- You’ve been on my mind all afternoon and honestly it’s inconvenient.
- Tell me something you’d never say to me in person.
- I’m free later. That was not a hint, it was an announcement.
Flirty Texts to Make Him Laugh
Humour is the single most underrated flirting tool with men. If he laughs, he texts back fast.
- I told my friends about you and now they’re insufferable. Look what you’ve done.
- On a scale of one to ruining my productivity, you’re a solid nine.
- I’m not saying I like you. I’m saying I’ve cleared my Saturday for no reason.
- You’re lucky you’re funny, because your taste in music is a red flag.
- I had a dream about you and you were still annoying in it. Impressive range.
- I’d flirt with you but I’m worried it would go to your head. It’s already quite full.
- Just so you know, I’m judging you for that text. Silently. Fondly.
- Congratulations, you’ve been promoted from “guy I text” to “guy I text a concerning amount.”
- I need your opinion on something and I’m going to ignore it anyway.
- Reminder that you owe me a rematch and I will not be gracious about winning.
Flirty Texts to Make Him Blush
Direct praise, aimed at something he chose rather than something he was born with. That’s what actually gets him.
- I like the way you handled that. Not many people would have.
- You have no idea how good you looked walking in tonight. None.
- I’ve met a lot of people who talk. You’re the first one in a while who’s interesting.
- I noticed you were the only one who checked. I always notice that.
- You’re the best part of my day and I resent that slightly.
- I could listen to you talk about that thing you love for hours. I’m not being polite.
- Something about your voice on the phone last night. Still thinking about it.
- You’re far more attractive than you seem to realise, and I find that unbearable.
- The way you laugh at your own jokes should be irritating. It isn’t.
- I don’t say this often, so pay attention. I’m really glad I met you.
Flirty Texts to Send a Guy You Just Started Talking To
Early on, keep it light and give him an easy opening. Intensity this early reads as pressure.
- Okay, settle a debate for me. It’s important and mostly made up.
- I’ve decided you’re my favourite person to text and you had no say in it.
- What’s something you’re weirdly good at? I need to know what I’m dealing with.
- I’m supposed to be working. Instead I’m here. Take the compliment.
- You seem like trouble. I’d like more information.
- Two truths and a lie. Go. I’ll know.
- I’m having a boring day and you seem like the solution.
- Tell me the last thing that made you laugh out loud, properly.
- If you were going to impress me, how would you do it? Asking for planning purposes.
- I don’t usually text first. Consider yourself an exception.
Texts to Make Him Chase You
These work by leaving space. Say the interesting thing, then stop. Don’t explain, don’t follow up, and let him come get the rest.
- I found out something about you today. Not telling you how.
- I was going to tell you something but I’ve decided you have to earn it.
- Something happened today that you’d find hilarious. Remind me later.
- I almost texted you last night. Decided against it. You’ll never know why.
- You crossed my mind for a very specific reason and I’m not going to elaborate.
- I’ve got news. It’s good. That’s all you’re getting over text.
- Guess where I am. You’ll never get it.
- I’ve been thinking about what you said. Still deciding whether I agree.
- You’re going to have to ask me properly.
- I’m busy tonight. Try me another time and I might say yes.
Flirty Texts to Send Your Boyfriend
Once you’re together, flirting stops happening by accident. These put it back.
- Still the best decision I ever made, just so we’re clear.
- I saw someone attractive today and thought, nah, mine’s better.
- Come home. I’ve got plans and none of them involve talking.
- I’m wearing the thing you like. No further comment.
- Two years in and you still make me nervous in the good way.
- Remember our third date? I’ve been thinking about it all afternoon.
- You’re the only person I want to be bored with. That’s the highest compliment I have.
- I love you, and also I want you, and those are separate points.
- Don’t make plans this weekend. That’s all the information I’m releasing.
- Every time you walk in the door I get a small version of the feeling I had the first time.
What He Actually Feels When He Reads One
Here’s what nobody tells you about men and flirty texts.
He isn’t grading your wording. He’s reading the confidence underneath it. A slightly clumsy text sent by a woman who’s relaxed lands better than a perfect one sent by a woman who rewrote it six times, because the second one carries an anxious charge and men feel that even through a screen.
The other thing is that men are wired to respond to a small, winnable challenge. “You’re so hot” is nice and it ends the conversation. “You’re going to have to earn that” starts one. Same feeling, completely different result.
And if he doesn’t reply for a few hours, resist the follow-up. A second text before he’s answered the first cancels out everything the first one did. If you want the longer version of why, read what he’s actually reading when you text him.
How to Use These Without Sounding Like a List
Change one detail so it’s specifically about him. The song he likes, the thing he said on Tuesday, the place you both went. One specific detail turns a generic line into something only you could have sent.
Send one at a time. A flirty text does its work in the gap afterwards, and stacking three of them fills the gap in.
Match the stage you’re actually at. The boyfriend section on a guy you’ve had two dates with reads as intense rather than warm, and you’ll feel him pull back.
Quick Answers About Flirty Texts
What’s the best time to send a flirty text? Late morning or mid-afternoon. He’s awake, he’s between things, and a mid-day text reads as thinking about him for no reason, which is stronger than a late-night one.
Should I text him first? Yes, sometimes. Always texting first creates a dynamic where he never has to reach. Never texting first makes you look uninterested. Alternate.
What if he doesn’t reply? Leave it. He’ll reply or he won’t, and either way a second text makes the situation worse rather than better.
Are flirty texts too forward? Almost never for a man. What reads as forward to you usually reads as confident to him. The thing men pull back from is pressure, not boldness.
How flirty is too flirty early on? Stick to the first and fourth sections until he’s matching your energy. Escalate when he escalates.
