Discover some great movies you can watch with your boyfriend that you’ll both enjoy, perfect for a night in or a lazy weekend.
Are you searching for some great movies that both you and your boyfriend will love watching together? Below, you’ll find some fantastic films with plenty of romance, comedy, and even a little action that will be perfect for any night in.
Titanic
There’s a reason why this blockbuster behemoth was recently released back into theaters just in time for Valentine’s Day. It is one of the greatest love stories ever put to film and that’s not hyperbole. Everything about this movie works from the star-studded cast to the ground-breaking special effects. Even the long runtime will breeze by once you lose yourself in this story. However, one of the reasons why it’s a great pick to watch your boyfriend is that it’s not just a love story. Around the halfway point it transforms into a disaster movie that has shots ripped straight out of a horror film. If he’s falling asleep in the first half, he’ll soon perk up when the iceberg hits.
50 First Dates
If you’re looking for a fantastic, funny, rom-com to watch with your boyfriend, then look no further than 50 First Days. Sandler and Barrymore are both at their best here in a film about how love isn’t always how you’d expect it to be. It’s a magical story that has plenty of heart and if the end doesn’t make one of you shed at least a couple of happy tears, then perhaps the next film will be a better choice.
Murder Mystery
Murder Mystery is another Sandler gem from more recent years. In this film, he stars with Jennifer Aniston. The flame has long since died in their relationship and the couple is in desperate need of some excitement. Suddenly, their vacation transforms into a real murder mystery with hilarious moments and clever twists that puts Knives Out to shame. The sequel is also right around the corner. If you love this one, Just Go With It is also another great choice that pairs Sandler and Aniston once more.
How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days
Before Mathew McConaughey turned his attention to oscar-bait titles, he starred with Kate Hudson in How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days. This flick is wickedly funny and expertly balances both sides of the relationship, showing the situation from the guy’s and girl’s points of view. It’s filled with hilarious mind games and tricks before the battle of wits finally comes to a head with a brilliant conclusion.
He’s Just Not That Into You
He’s Just Not That Into You is one of the rare rom-coms where not everyone receives a happy ending. However, the plot does leave you feeling as though everyone is where they are meant or deserve to be. The movie also has some great messages about relationships that still holds true to this day with an incredible cast that includes Scarlett Johanson, Bradley Cooper, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Connelly, and Justin Long. It may even reveal some truths about your own relationship.
Coyote Ugly
Coyote Ugly spins the tale of a young girl who moves to the big city in desperate hopes of becoming a professional singer. She soon ends up working in a wild bar filled with beautiful women who throw an incredible, sexy party every night. Bonus points are given to this movie for casting John Goodman in a wonderful role as her father. The dance scenes are the delicious eye-candy equivalent of Magic Mike and there’s also a beautiful little romance at the center of the film.
Hitch
Another romcom that expertly toys with both sides of a partnership, the pairing of Will Smith and Kevin James works wonders here. Smith plays a love guru who helps guys bat far above their league and win over the girls until he falls in love with a dazzling woman played by Eva Longoria. As everything starts to go wrong in his romantic endeavor, Hitch begins to realize that he may not have all the answers when it comes to love, and perhaps that’s the point.
Deadpool
There are lots of fun facts about this movie. It was only released after someone forced the studio by sharing test footage (potentially Reynolds). It was also released just around Valentine’s Day because Reynolds and the studios were aware they could make a play for the romance market with a clever promotional campaign. They were right and the trailers which positioned the film as a romantic comedy instead of a superhero flick helped the film gain a lot of buzz before it was even released. This also wasn’t false advertising. Watch it for the incredible action scenes, and Reynold’s smart alec performance and stay for the love story.
We’re The Millers
If you’re looking for a fun film with just a hint of romance that is perfect for an adult audience, then We’re The Millers is a great option. If you haven’t seen it or even heard of it, it’s best to go into this one completely blind. The story begins slowly and suddenly goes completely off the rails. Sudeikis stars before Ted Lasso fame along with Emma Roberts and Will Poulter.
Meet The Parents
Everyone is nervous about meeting their future in-laws for the first time. Some struggle to get on with their in-laws for the rest of their relationship. If this sounds like your boyfriend down to a tee, then he’s sure to love Meet The Parents. The sequel Meet The Fockers is still great while the third title should be avoided or forgotten completely. This is a classic comedy that is just a little too outlandish to be believable but will still have you laughing all night.
Eternal Sunshine Of Spotless Mind
Or finally, you could opt for a thoughtful, poignant romance film. Jim Carrey restrains his natural comic sensibilities here opposite Winslet in a story that keeps you guessing what is going on until at least three-quarters of the way through the movie. This movie delves into what makes a relationship great and why the best partnerships aren’t always smooth sailing.
