Therefore, the speech you are going to evaluate has to stand on its own. Here are the aspects of humor to look for:
| Is it understandable? Is the vocabulary understandable? Is the delivery slow enough?

| Is the timing appropriate? Should the pauses be longer?

| Are the parts that are supposed to be funny actually funny?

| This speech is from personal experience. Is it too personal?
|
| Are my anecdotes funny? Are they too painful to be funny?
|
| Did I observe the “rule of three,” using three points in sequence, when possible building to a climax?
|
| Did I make appropriate use of body language? Movement on the stage? Vocal variety?
|
| Did I make good use of dialogue?
|
| What other suggestions can you make?
