The Engaging Humor path is not actually about delivering humorous speeches. The topics Pathways gives, and the evaluations of those topics, are simply not appropriate to humorous speeches. Therefore, the speech you are going to evaluate has to stand on its own. Here are the aspects of humor to look for:
| Is it understandable? Is the vocabulary understandable? Is the delivery slow enough?

| Is the timing appropriate? Should the pauses be longer?

| Are the parts that are supposed to be funny actually funny?

| This speech is from personal experience. Is it too personal?
|
| Are my anecdotes funny? Are they too painful to be funny?
|
| Did I observe the “rule of three,” using three points in sequence, when possible building to a climax?
|
| Did I make appropriate use of body language? Movement on the stage? Vocal variety?
|
| Did I make good use of dialogue?
|
| What other suggestions can you make?
